The Unusual Line Between Apple and Apple

Even in the most cash strapped startups that I've ever seen, they still will offer to buy your equipment. There are even legal reasons why companies want to provide hardware for you too. So now there's this weird fuzzy line between stuff you do on your own and stuff you do for the company. Does that just mean they can't hire anyone that doesn't own a MacBook already?
