What You're Making at the Center Is Your Willpower
In this kind of community, it's your willpower to be a good person that's at the center. In this way of thinking about identity, it's about what Jesus has done regardless of your ability or inability. And Matthew is responding to an invitation that he would never be offered by the Pharisees. The hurdles are so huge and there's probably a lot of really good things that Matthew would benefit from if he would change his life.
