Is Lauriano Really a Rancher?

There's some fun stuff. Like when you first see this character, there might be a temptation to think, ok, this is going to be just a shining white knight. You get the idea that he's not that good at riding the horse. There's some dismounts, which adds to the comedic nature of his characteri they may have said it in the movie, and it went past me, bu i was trying to figure out, what does lauriano do?
