Woodpeckers - The Good Lord's Bird
In the fall of 20 21, when i write this story, the us. Fish and wild life service declared the ivory billed woodpicker extinct. There had been no confirmed sitings of any of their species since 19 forty four. And people wanted those feathers. They were worn and traded by native americans for centuries. The long bills that would chip and strip and pummel and probe the oak trees for food have been found by archaeologists in parts of the country far from any place they ever flew.
