The Artifacts Uncovered by Leonard Woolley

Puabi is an arcadian name and cylinder seals found inside her tomb suggests that she may have been queen or a priestess. Her headdress, or crown, is an ornate floral adornment made from gold. The surrounding pit of her tomb is even more dumbfounding and poignant. Here we find the remains of five armed men, four grooms for a pair of oxen, three attendants and 12 other fe attendants. Small cups were found near to the bodies, suggesting self sacrifice through poi oning. Deciphering what this can tell us about somerian society as a whole is a very difficult thing.
