Mauna Loa began shooting 50 meters of lava into the air on November 27th, it hadn't done so in 38 years. Historically, Mauna Loa worked on a cycle. It would sleep for about seven years, wake up, spew lava everywhere, and then repeat. If true, the current eruption could help volcanologists understand more about connection between MaunaLoa and Kilauea.
