Introduction
Scientists have developed a brain implant that boosts memory. For the moment it's being developed as a treatment for dementia, but one can imagine a future when students use a device like this to download information to their brains. We'll need far fewer teachers because teachers can focus on teaching students how to apply knowledge they've already downloaded. Long-term, expect the number of teacher jobs to decline as many teachers become unnecessary. And wages of those who remain will rise as they become more productive.
