The Infinite Ignorance of Everything Else Makes Us Equal
In the final paragraph of part 16, we get to pop a quote one of his almost famous aphorisms. It might be well for all of us to remember that, while differing widely in the various little bits we know, in our infinite ignorance, we are all equal end quote. So this is an appeal for the equality of all people. If only we look for it, we can often find a true idea, worthy of being preserved in a philosophical theory, which must be rejected as false. And I suspect if they felt humble before the vastness of the heavens, this was because they saw in it a symbol of their ignorance end quote.
