What Is the Emotional Aspect of Science?

The idea that you could find out that the universe was going to last forever. It seemed like the whole field with everybody doing that. So there's that emotional aspect. Then there's all of the frustrations that you have to work your way through. The fact that for the first five years, we had not yet found a single one of the supernova that we were going to use is a really good example of the kind of thing that emotionally you have to be completely sure that you're making progress.
