The Smithsonian's New Collections Policy

Lonnie Bunch is the director of Smithsonian's Museum of African Art. He wants to make sure that ethical considerations are as important as anything else in determining what you acquire and maintain. Under his new policy, a piece from its collection could be deaccessioned or it might enter into shared stewardship arrangement with communities who have made claims on objects.
