Bruce didn't recall seeing any blood on the men, which correlated with the crime scene. Scraps of notepaper found next to Nicole's answering machine provided a clue. The word depression was written in her handwriting at the top of one page. Her mobile phone number was traced to an international student named Harbagan Collie,. He told police that he had purchased the number as part of a phone plan in mid-March 1999 - just over a month before Nicole was killed. Harry assured police that the phone had remained in his possession and no one else had used it.
