ASOP's Life
Aristotle indicates that ASOP was born in Thrace, at a site on the Black Sea coast which would later become Mecembria. An ancient literary work, called the ASOP Romance, tells an episodic, albeit probably highly fictional version of his life. The fables were also considered as a valuable tool in speeches, especially as a means to persuade others about the specific point. Regardless whether he was an actual person or not, the legend behind ASOP is quite an interesting tale itself.
