The Jakarta Method: A Successful Conquest of the World
In 1970, Salvador Allende is elected president of Chile. Richard Nixon orders the CIA to stop him from taking office. In 1973, the coup happens and Jakarta does come. They killed thousands of people in Chile. And this is exactly what happens in Latin America. The phrase Jakarta as metaphor for mass murder, it's kind of accidental that it was Jakarta because Jakarta wasn't even the worst violence. Most of the violence happened out in the countryside where it was easier to hide what you were doing. So not only can we do that if we need to, it'll work. We'll get away with it. Washington will play defense for us.
