The Ottoman Empire's History of Christian Muslim Enmity
The Ottomans didn't want all of them to convert because they got a larger tax base out of Christians as Christians and Jews, but they also didn't have to serve in the army. So there were certain restrictions on those populations as Christians. But you can't really find sort of ethnic warfare, warfare based on one religion against each other until the 20th century.
