The fragile world hypothesis by nick bostrum. In such a fragile world, as he calls it, almost the only way that humanity could survive might be to hav this massive surveillance of everyone so they don't kill each other. If you're monitoring everyone all the time, it's goin very easy for the government to suddenly just flip into this self perpetuating authoritarian system. I suppose we could imagine in future that maybe we could find some way to ensure that their te that the system couldn't be used or abused like these. But i'm kind of sceptical that that is something that will end or ever wanting to deploy ye.
