The Water Wars in Southern California

In the late 90s, most of those Imperial Valley farms switched from flood irrigation to sprinkler irrigation. It was heralded as a water conservation; it's more fitting you get more crops per drops. But what it did was completely cut off what had been the only source of water other than periodic sporadically. And so starting at starting in the year 2000, it was recognized that if something isn't done, the lake will disappear and that will be bad.
