i'm interstid in reading the whole book to see how much of this is correct, but my sense is that he he sees this as have the reality of taking families seriously. Not everyone is memorizing homer in greek and virgil in latin. And one of the interesting things is that i don't think that elliot thinks, eliot does not think that's a bad thing. He says, ah, he's talking about elite culture. It cannot become mass culture.
