The History of the Canadian Radio Television Communications Organization (CRTC)
The CRTC's original mandate was to try to make sure that on the radio, a certain amount of minutes in the day would be dedicated to Canadian content. The difference with the Internet is that the Internet is unlimited. With the Internet, we can put Canadian content out there and if people are interested in looking at it or watching it, they can go ahead and do that. But as I said, the Internet's very different because it has that unlimited quality to it. And so that's also what their CRTC's initial mandate was, what the government is attempting or wanting to do with it but also why it doesn't make sense.
