Is There a Link Between Deflation and Depression?
Banks can simply re negotiate the debt in light of the money's increased purchasing power. Deflation, contrary to what we often hear, has not, in fact, been associated with economic depression in history. A broad historical look finds more periods of deflation with reasonable growth than with depression,. and many more periods of depression with inflation than with deflation.
