The Drawing of the Three

Injured and infected after encounters with lobstrosities, Roland Deschain discovers three doors on a desolate beach, each leading to New York City in 1987, 1964, and 1977.

Through them, he recruits Eddie Dean, a heroin addict smuggling drugs; Odetta Holmes, a civil rights activist with dissociative identity disorder manifesting as the violent Detta Walker; and confronts Jack Mort, a sociopath whose actions connect to Odetta's tragedies.

The merging of Odetta and Detta into Susannah forms Roland's ka-tet, setting them on the path toward the Dark Tower amid survival challenges and personal demons.
