Vladimir

Set at a small liberal arts college, "Vladimir" follows a 58‑year‑old English professor whose charismatic husband, also a professor, is under investigation after former students accuse him of having had inappropriate sexual relationships with them.

Although she long condoned their open marriage and believed the affairs to be consensual, her husband’s alleged misconduct now threatens both their reputations and careers.

At the same time, she develops an intense obsession with Vladimir Vladinski, a much younger, married novelist and new hire in her department, an infatuation that escalates into increasingly disturbing and reckless behavior.

Through her darkly funny, unsettling narration, the novel interrogates sex, consent, generational divides, power dynamics in academia, marriage, aging, and female desire in the era of the #MeToo movement.
