The Mercenary

The novel takes place during the twilight of the Soviet Union's power and follows Garin, a CIA agent of Russian parentage, as he is inserted into Moscow to bring out a Soviet official who has been spying for the CIA. The story involves Garin's relationship with Natalya, the daughter of a Soviet General, and navigates through arrests, interrogations, double-agents, and a complex plot involving 'spy dust' and a border crossing with Czechoslovakia.
