Asterix in Britain
Book • 1965
In this eighth installment of the Asterix series, Julius Caesar has successfully conquered most of Britain, but one village in Kent remains independent.
Anticlimax, a cousin of Asterix, is sent to Gaul to seek help from Asterix and Obelix.
They accompany him back to Britain with a barrel of magic potion.
However, their mission is complicated by the Romans, who confiscate the potion and lead to a series of comedic misadventures, including a rugby match, imprisonment in the Tower of London, and the eventual destruction of the potion.
Despite this, Asterix uses herbs (revealed to be tea leaves) to create a psychological boost for the Britons, leading to their victory against the Romans.
The story is filled with parodies and references to British culture and society.
