All alone

The story follows Marcel Mabout, a ten-year-old boy, as he is entrusted by his father to take the family's three cows to summer pasture in the French mountains.

Marcel faces challenges such as cold, fear, and loneliness, but his life changes when he meets Pierre Pascal, another cowherd boy.

The boys' initial isolation gives way to a chain of events that leads to a transformation in their village, promoting cooperation and community.
