Orphans of the Sky

Book • 1963
Orphans of the Sky tells the story of Hugh Hoyland, a young man living in a society that has forgotten its origins and purpose.

He lives on what he believes is a small, self-contained universe, unaware that he is actually aboard a massive generation ship traveling through space.

As Hugh uncovers the truth, he becomes embroiled in a conflict between factions vying for control of the ship, ultimately leading him to seek a way to restore the ship to its original mission and guide it to its destination.
